If there is any way - any way - to access formal diagnosis for ADHD, do. Even if it means getting help to get through the paperwork hoops. (For US patients, Psychology today has a database that lets you search for specialists by specialty - here, ADHD - physical location, and insurance they take.)

You're describing basically a hallmark behavior for it (inability to direct focus) to a degree (as discussed in zine, $) that clinicians are likely to take very seriously. At a first appointment, in addition to whatever other prep you want to do... print a copy of this zine, and give it to them. As far as "the fine art of being taken seriously," this communicates very clearly the problem you are having and why it's dissatisfying to you.

EDIT: as far as the zine, rather than "I experience a rather strong emotional response to its message", high compliments on the formatting/art/etc

hi, thanks for the comment. I've been reading a lot about ADHD and absolutely intend to talk to a professional eventually. I'm not in the US, I'm in Brazil and I've been postponing it 'cause our public health system is absolutely collapsed and right now I can't afford a private professional.  I'll be taking your advice and bringing a copy of this zine though.  thanks again for the compliments and feedback :)

I was impressed by the sincerity and honesty in this magazine. It was very nice to find common points in myself with the persona in the magazine.  I think getting any kind of feedback for the work you do by literally anyone strengthens the bonds between you and your newly adopted hobby. (even if it's a family member etc.) Or being inside a community w/ people having the same hobby, at least this is what I think it can be helpful for me and what I try to achieve. Besides that the zine look really neat, I really liked the colors and illustrations used in this zine. I'm looking forward to seeing new zines you'll make if you are planning to.

thank you so much! yes, I feel like sometimes I get stuck between the positive aspect of having a community like sharing experiences and having some sense of accountability, and the "bad" aspects of it like maybe sharing the project before its ripe, and having that instant gratification just to end up dropping it.
